MEET THE ATHLETES
Aaron "Wheelz" Fotheringham
Fotheringham was born with spina bifida and has been using a wheelchair since the age of 8. He has also been involved with WCMX-wheelchair skateboarding since then and was the first WCMX athlete to land a backflip in a customized skate wheelchair. Aaron has a passion for what he does. Not only is it a lot of fun, but he wants to change the world’s perception of what’s possible through sport and to help everyone see their own challenges in a new way.
Ella was born with a club foot and shorter right leg, which was amputated when she was nine months old to give her the best opportunities to remain active. When Ella was 9 years old, she wrote a letter to Santa asking for a “friend like her” with a prosthetic leg and was introduced to CAF. Ella is extremely active and involved in many different sports, including cheer, track and field, surfing, archery, field hockey and wheelchair basketball.
Born with a congenital condition, Hunter had both legs amputated below the knee before the age of one. Doctors told him he would never walk, so he learned to run instead! Hunter went on to make history as the first double-amputee to earn an NCAA Division I scholarship in track and field. He is now a three-time NCAA All American and a two-time Paralympic medalist and heading to Tokyo for the 2021 games.
