New Orleans Pelicans and Smoothie King Renew Arena Naming Rights Partnership

NEW ORLEANS, LA – December 26, 2023 The New Orleans Pelicans announced today the renewal of their arena naming rights contract with Smoothie King, solidifying a continued partnership that has become synonymous with the vibrant spirit of New Orleans. The venue will proudly retain its distinctive identity as the "Smoothie King Center" for the foreseeable future.

The renewal of this partnership signifies the strong commitment both organizations share to enhance the fan experience and contribute to the local community. Smoothie King, a brand deeply rooted in promoting a healthy and active lifestyle, aligns seamlessly with the Pelicans' mission to inspire and connect with fans both on and off the court.

EXCLUSIVE: To commemorate the renewal of this naming rights partnership, the first 1,000 fans to arrive at "The Blender" for the Pelicans' January 5th game against the Los Angeles Clippers will be gifted a complimentary 12 oz King Cake Smoothie, courtesy of Smoothie King. This exclusive opportunity allows Pelicans fans to be among the first to savor the limited-time-only smoothie before it arrives at participating Smoothie King locations in New Orleans and throughout Louisiana.

"We are thrilled to extend our relationship with Smoothie King and maintain the iconic Smoothie King Center as the home of the New Orleans Pelicans. This partnership has been instrumental in creating a dynamic and engaging environment for our fans," said New Orleans Pelicans Governor, Gayle Benson. "Smoothie King's commitment to wellness and community aligns perfectly with our values, and we look forward to continuing to build on the success we've achieved together."

Smoothie King, a leader in the health and wellness industry, recognizes the value of associating its brand with the excitement and energy of professional basketball. The Smoothie King Center has not only served as a premier venue for NBA action but also as a focal point for community events, concerts, and other entertainment experiences.

“The Smoothie King story began in New Orleans 50 years ago when our founder created the first smoothie and literally coined the term there, forever linking our brand to what is truly a special city,” said Wan Kim, Smoothie King CEO. “We’re so excited to continue to be a part of the community and have a strong presence there through our stores and our partnership with the Pelicans—an organization that shares our commitment to a healthy and active lifestyle—for years to come.”

The New Orleans Pelicans and Smoothie King look forward to creating more unforgettable moments for fans in “The Blender,” promoting health and wellness initiatives, and fostering a sense of community for years to come.
